Coaching
I offer human-centric life, career and sales coaching in Belfast, working with individuals and organisations across Northern Ireland. Coaching starts with you as a whole person, not a problem to fix or a target to hit.
My coaching philosophy and values
I believe everyone has the capacity for growth through greater self-awareness. People are rarely limited by potential; more often, they are limited by patterns of thinking, behaviour and belief formed through experience.
My role as a human-centric coach is to support the shift from unconscious reaction to conscious choice, helping people realise their potential and live better lives.
Core values: Authenticity, compassion, empathy, integrity and transparency.
Drawing on: Emotional Intelligence, Transactional Analysis and Positive Intelligence, alongside 60 years of life experience and over 30 years of lived commercial and sales experience.
What is human-centric life coaching?
Human-centric life coaching is a supportive, personalised approach that begins with you as an individual and unique person, not simply a problem to solve or a goal to achieve.
As a professional human-centric life coach based in Belfast, I provide a confidential, non-judgemental space, allowing you to step back from the demands of everyday life, understand what truly matters to you and explore what may be keeping you stuck.
Rather than telling you how to live, a human-centric coach listens carefully, asks thoughtful questions and helps you find your own clarity, confidence and direction.
The aim is to collaborate — to work together to help you create meaningful, realistic change that reflects your values, circumstances and vision for the life you want to lead.
What is human-centric career coaching?
Human-centric career coaching helps you make decisions about your working life by looking beyond job titles, salaries and conventional measures of success. It considers your strengths, values, interests, responsibilities, wellbeing and the kind of life you want your career to support.
Whether you are feeling unfulfilled, considering a change, returning to work or wondering what should come next, the coaching process helps you understand what you need and what may be holding you back.
From that clearer perspective, you can explore suitable possibilities and take practical, manageable steps towards work that feels more purposeful, sustainable and aligned with who you are.
A non-prescriptive and non-judgemental process where we work collaboratively, helping you figure out what makes you shine.
What is human-centric sales coaching?
Human-centric sales coaching helps salespeople improve their performance without losing their individuality or treating selling as a mechanical process — which, in many ways, is what it’s becoming.
It recognises that confidence, motivation, beliefs, habits and relationships all influence the way someone sells.
Instead of imposing a rigid script or concentrating only on targets, the coach works with the individual to understand their strengths, identify obstacles and develop an approach that feels natural, ethical and effective.
The result is not simply better sales technique, but greater self-awareness, stronger conversations, healthier customer relationships and more consistent performance.
I have been a sales coach for over 20 years, working with organisations of all sizes as well as individuals — both in sales and sales leadership roles — across Belfast, Northern Ireland and further afield.
What is the difference between coaching, mentoring and therapy?
Mentoring, coaching and therapy can all provide valuable support, but they serve different purposes.
A mentor usually draws upon their own experience to offer advice, guidance and practical suggestions about a particular role, career or situation.
A coach is less likely to provide ready-made answers; instead, they help you think more clearly, understand yourself, explore your options and decide what action feels right for you.
Therapy generally works at greater psychological depth, helping people address emotional distress, mental health concerns, trauma or experiences from the past that continue to affect the present.
There can be some overlap, but a responsible coach understands these boundaries and will recommend support from an appropriately qualified therapist when a person’s needs extend beyond the scope of coaching.
If you’d like to talk through whether coaching is the right fit for you — life, career or sales — get in touch via my contact page for a no-obligation conversation. Or just email me here: info@shift-control.co.uk
FAQs
What is human-centric coaching?
Human-centric coaching starts with you as a whole person, not a problem to be fixed or a target to be hit. It draws on Emotional Intelligence, Transactional Analysis and Positive Intelligence to help you move from unconscious reaction to conscious choice — across life, career or sales.
What’s the difference between a coach, a mentor and a therapist?
A mentor draws on their own experience to give advice and practical suggestions. A coach helps you think more clearly and find your own answers, rather than providing ready-made ones. Therapy works at a deeper psychological level, addressing emotional distress, trauma or mental health concerns. A responsible coach recognises these boundaries and will refer you to a qualified therapist if your needs go beyond coaching.
Do you offer life, career and sales coaching in Belfast?
Yes. I’m based in Belfast and work with individuals and organisations across Northern Ireland, offering human-centric life coaching, career coaching and sales coaching — each tailored to the person, not a fixed script.
Is coaching confidential?
Yes. Coaching sessions are a confidential, non-judgemental space, giving you room to step back from the demands of everyday life and explore what’s really keeping you stuck, without fear of judgement.
Who is coaching for — do I need to be struggling to benefit?
No. Coaching isn’t only for people in crisis. It’s for anyone wanting greater clarity, whether that’s feeling unfulfilled at work, considering a career change, wanting to sell without losing your individuality, or simply wanting to understand yourself better.
