Sales Management Coaching

Sales management coaching is one-to-one support for sales managers and team leaders, focused on running a sales team rather than making individual sales. In Belfast and Northern Ireland, sessions run fortnightly or monthly, in person or online, and are built around the manager’s own team, targets and current challenges.

Moving into a sales management role is a different job from being a top performer on the sales floor. The skills that got someone promoted — hitting targets, closing deals, managing their own pipeline — are not the same skills needed to coach a team, run a sales process, and report on performance to the rest of the business.

Sales management coaching works with the people already in that role, or about to step into it, to close that gap. Sessions are one-to-one, built around the manager’s actual team and actual numbers, not a generic leadership course.

What’s covered

Coaching is tailored to the manager and the business, but typically includes:

  • Running effective 1-2-1s and pipeline reviews with the sales team
  • Setting and tracking activity and outcome targets
  • Coaching underperforming team members without micromanaging
  • Forecasting and reporting sales performance upward
  • Recruiting and onboarding new salespeople
  • Balancing their own sales responsibilities (if any) with managing others

How it works

Sessions are usually fortnightly or monthly, in person or online, and run alongside the manager’s day-to-day work rather than taking them out of it. Each session has a clear focus and an action to take before the next one.

This suits sales managers who are new to the role, managers who have been in post for a while but are still working it out on their own, and business owners who manage a small sales team themselves and want an outside perspective on how they’re doing it.

Who this is for

Businesses in Belfast and across Northern Ireland with a sales team of any size, where the manager would benefit from structured, ongoing support rather than a one-off training day.

Frequently asked questions

My sales manager already hits their own numbers — why would they need coaching?
Hitting your own target and getting a team to hit theirs are different skills. A manager can be a strong individual performer and still struggle with the parts of the job that have nothing to do with personal selling: holding someone accountable in a 1-2-1, spotting why a specific person’s pipeline is light, or deciding when to step in versus when to let someone work through it themselves. Coaching targets that gap specifically, not general sales ability.

How is sales management coaching different from sales leadership training?
Leadership training is usually a fixed course delivered to a group, covering management theory in general. Coaching is one-to-one and ongoing, and works on the manager’s actual team, actual numbers and actual problems as they come up — not a case study.

We’ve put a manager through training before and nothing changed. Why would this be different?
Training usually ends when the course does. Coaching doesn’t — it continues alongside the job, which means what’s covered gets applied and checked rather than left behind in a workbook. If a manager leaves a 1-2-1 having agreed to handle something differently, the next session starts by checking whether they did.

What if the problem turns out to be the team, not the manager?
That becomes visible quickly, because coaching works from the manager’s real pipeline and real team data rather than theory. If the issue is recruitment, a particular individual, or something structural in how the team is set up, that gets flagged early rather than being worked around indefinitely.

How do you know whether it’s working?
Progress is tracked against the manager’s own numbers and the specific things coaching set out to change — not a generic satisfaction score. That might be pipeline visibility, forecast accuracy, how 1-2-1s are run, or team performance against target, depending on what the coaching was for.

How is sales management coaching different from sales training?
Sales training is usually aimed at salespeople and covers selling skills. Sales management coaching is aimed at the person managing the sales team, and covers how they lead, coach and report on that team.

Is sales management coaching available online or in person?
Both. Sessions can be run in person in Belfast and across Northern Ireland, or online.
